Two days later...my next door neighbor's Golden Retriever was outside and I let Buddy say hello and he really behaved. He sniffed and played in a nice calm way. No pulling or jumping etc. I walked him towards the children and he just watched and wagged his tail but did not pull or try and run.... I then decided to take him to the local park around the corner to stretch his legs and on our way we met another neighbor and her dog. Buddy was very polite and calmly said hello and kissed and sniffed the other dog. He was very well behaved. I was thrilled with his behavior.
Last night my daughter-in-law and her sister stopped by for a few minutes. Both these women never had a dog, so they do get a little scared with him. They came in and Buddy was excited and I held him just for a second so he would not try and run out the door, and then let him go. He was so excited to see these women but behaved and just happily wagged his tail and waited to be petted. He only jumped up once and that was a few minutes later when we were giving him treats.
I am so happy with what I am seeing. He is responding and it feels good....I shower him with praise and continue to tell him what a good boy he is. I hope it continues. As far as the walking goes, i truly believe he is responding better because...you showed him how it is to be done...."
